Led by Hank and Betty Christian, Goldwood began as a breeding kennel for Golden Retrievers in 1936.  They were two of the first breeders to help import Goldens into the United States from England and many Golden Retrievers today can still be traced back to Goldwood bloodlines. In 1972, Hank and Betty's daughter, Peggy Hilton and her husband, Frank, continued the breeding program and expanded the business to include boarding, grooming, and pet supply sales.  Goldwood's popularity continued to grow, and in 1979, Peggy and Frank's son, Cliff and his wife Joan, passionately joined the business.  Their son, Tony joined the Goldwood family in 1997 while attending college.  After graduation, he chose to stay on board bringing fresh ideas and energy.  In the summer of 2007, his wife, Erin changed careers and now completes the 4th generation husband and wife Goldwood team!

With vast attention to detail, focused dedication, and a true love of animals, Goldwood Kennels has grown to accommodate 110 dogs and 30 cats.  Our caring and knowledgeable staff today consists of 35 pet handlers, 2 professional groomers, and 2 supervisors with over 20 years of experience respectively.  Customers can rest assured that the health and safety of their pets is our top priority.  All pets visiting Goldwood are boarded by personality to ensure a comfortable, positive stay.  Pets are provided continuous fresh water, a raised bed with fleece blankets for resting, and are taken outside a minimum of three times daily to play in one of our 1/4 acre grass play yards or feline play room.  Several feeding options are available based on the needs of your pet and all feedings, eliminations, and behaviors are observed and recorded daily.  Goldwood's indoor facilities are climate controlled and monitored by a Sentry security system as well as the local police and fire departments.
